How can I create a CD that can be read from any PC? Any regular CD-R / CD-RW burned by FreakyBurn can by read by any CDROM Driver on any pc.
Why am I not able to use all 4.7 GB on a DVD? The reason for this are different conversion systems. A DVD media can handle 4.700.000.000 Bytes, but this number is not equal to 4.7 GB as stated by the disc producers. The correct conversion factor for Bytes is not 1000, but 1024:
1024 Byte = 1 KByte
A DVD can handle 4.700.000.000 Bytes: The actual capacity of a 4.7GB DVD is around 4.38 GB only!
